Forestry Mulching vs. Brush Hogging
Both cut down overgrowth, but they're built for different jobs.
Brush hogging
A rotary cutter pulled behind a tractor. Great for tall grass, weeds and light saplings.
- Best for: maintaining fields and keeping cleared areas open.
- Limits: struggles with woody stems and leaves rough, ragged cuts.
Forestry mulching
A heavy-duty mulching head that grinds woody brush and trees into mulch.
- Best for: initial clearing of woody growth, saplings and small trees.
- Leaves: a mulch layer and low stumps.
Use them together
A common approach: forestry mulch to reclaim the land, then brush hog annually to keep it open.
